Housing

The housing market in the Prescott area is undeniably hot. Each of the communities has different median housing prices as well as different personalities, features and appealing points.

  • Prescott's downtown Courthouse.Prescott:  in 2002 there were 1,182 home sale transactions, with an average sale price of $214,662. The median price was $185,000. (Prescott Chamber of Commerce)
  • Prescott Valley: In 2002, there were 1,481 new building permits issued— more than in the same year for its larger neighboring city of Prescott. (Source: Arizona Dept. of Commerce)
  • Chino Valley: Growth in housing and construction is also soaring in Chino Valley, currently the northernmost of the area communities.
  • Dewey-Humboldt: The newest incorporated community in the area is Dewey-Humboldt, which formalized its status as a town in 2004.

Recreation:

If it is the outdoors that grabs your attention, then the Prescott area is the place to be. Hiking, lakes, skate parks, golf courses, biking.... and that's just the highlights of outdoor recreation opportunities. Toss in some trips to local museums, historical sites, movie theatres, and the Regional Shopping Mall, and you find busy days.

Education:

Higher education is all around the area, and the opportunities continue to grow. Just take a look:

  • Yavapai College, which offers associate degrees, professional/technical programs, and professional development. More than 75 areas of study. Main campus in Prescott, with satellite campuses in Prescott Valley and Chino Valley.

  • Prescott College, which is a private college for the study of liberal arts and the environment. Located in Prescott.

  • Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, which specializes in aviation and aerospace education. This campus is in Prescott, while its sister campus is in Daytona Beach, Florida.

  • Northern Arizona University Yavapai Extension, which now provides a more convenient, local way to pursue bachelor's and master's degrees through Flagstaff's Northern Arizona University by way of the Yavapai College Extension. There is also an extension relationship in place with Old Dominion University.

  • Northcentral University, an accredited online university for adult learners seeking to advance professionally while they balance personal life with education and career. NCU provides graduate and undergraduate degree programs in business and technology management, education, and psychology.

For K-12 learning opportunities, a wide range of public, charter and private schools are available.


Health Care: 

Yavapai Regional Medical Center is the area's full-service medical center, with its original campus in Prescott and its newly opened East Campus in Prescott Valley.  Also in Prescott is the Northern Arizona Veterans Health Care System, providing a range of outpatient, inpatient and residential services.
